Transportation is vital to America’s success and growth. Yet transportation presents a number of significant challenges to America’s environment, health, security and economy. The way we fuel our various modes of transportation — from heavy-duty trucks to public transportation buses to airport and police fleets to waste-removal vehicles to the cars we see on the road every day — impacts Americans in multiple ways. Before we can find the best and balanced use of our energy resources to fuel transportation, we must first examine the challenges.
